BIPP Approved Colleges

Some of the most respected photographic courses in the UK offer their students the opportunity to gain a BIPP professional qualification alongside their academic achievements. If you are a student at a BIPP approved college you are able to receive a reduced membership at £35 per year (while studying).  There is a separate application form for this process that can be found below.

Approved & Affiliate Student Member Scheme Application Form

Work is assessed by the course tutor and BIPP External Assessors. If the assessment is successful then the student will have the potential to leave college with both an academic qualification and professional qualification of Licentiate of the BIPP (LBIPP). In exceptional circumstances work may be recommended to the higher qualification, Associateship of the BIPP (ABIPP). Please speak to your course tutor for further information or call us on 01296 642020.

The scheme is currently offered by the following colleges and universities:

  • Venture Photography
  • Defence School of Photography

For more information, please contact the relevant college or university.

Any colleges or universities interested in becoming part of this scheme should contact Chris Harper FBIPP at chris@bipp.com

Affiliated Colleges

Although some colleges do not operate under the BIPP Approval Scheme, they do run courses recognised by the BIPP.

Choosing Photography Courses

There are literally hundreds of photographic courses  available through colleges and universities and other training providers. Creative Skillset has information on training and careers and it's worth taking a look at their site. Creative Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media, www.creativeskillset.org

Other than the approved courses at the above colleges & universities, which are assessed, BIPP cannot recommend individual courses. However, always ensure that the course content is relevant to the photography you would like to do afterwards. Also, make sure that the training provider has  'awarding status'. Many offer certificates or distinctions, but they are not official qualifications.
